About

Andrew Cottone, Ph.D.

Founder and CEO, Aternium, Inc.

Visiting Fellow, Caesar Rodney Institute

Andrew Cottone’s breadth and depth of experience encompasses twenty-five years as an inventor, entrepreneur and business founder of two manufacturing organizations in Delaware.  Andrew is trained as an organometallic and process chemist at the University of Florida, where he earned his Ph.D. He joined CB Research and Development (the predecessor of Adesis) in 2001 and co-founded Adesis in 2005. In 2016, Adesis was acquired by Universal Display Corporation (Nasdaq: OLED).   During this period, Andrew grew the company from 17 people to nearly 180 and increased R&D and laboratory space from 15,000 sq ft to 2 sites and >100,000 sq ft.

Entrepreneurs with Andrew’s scientific training and track record are extremely rare in the complex and capital-intensive chemical manufacturing industry.  In 2023, Andrew founded Aternium, Inc. to build a series of sustainable plants in the Mid-Atlantic region co-producing heavy water and clean hydrogen.
