David R. Legates, PhD.
David R. Legates is a Professor of Climatology at the University of Delaware and served as the Delaware State Climatologist from 2005 to 2011. He also is an adjunct faculty in the Statistics Program. He received his B.A. in Mathematics and Geography (double major - cum laude) in 1982 and his Doctorate in Climatology in 1988 from the University of Delaware. He spent 9½ years as a professor in the College of Geosciences at the University of Oklahoma and 1½ years as a professor at Louisiana State University before returning to the University of Delaware in 1999. He has been invited twice to appear before the United States Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works and has given more than 120 invited professional presentations. He is recognized as a Certified Consulting Meteorologist by the American Meteorological Society and is the recipient of the 2002 Boeing Autometric Award in Image Analysis and Interpretation by the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.
