Israel A. Gonzalez




Israel A. Gonzalez retired in 2010 after a twenty-five year career with AstraZeneca. He held several positions with AZ and most recently, he was an Area Director where he was accountable for a Division of over 700 employees and several billion dollars in sales. Izzy also served as the Executive Director of Sales Training and Leadership Development where he was responsible for developing and implementing programs to train Sales Representatives and develop the leadership skills of Sales Managers and Directors. Izzy won the coveted CEO Transformation Award for revamping how training and leadership development were delivered at AstraZeneca. He created an innovative, state-of the-art training and leadership development program which was shown to have a direct impact on the sales of the organization. Izzy also worked closely with Curt Coffman author of First Break all the Rules to introduce the principles of employee engagement. He trained Leaders how to establish a culture of employee engagement within their individual teams and how engaged employees can effect the company's financial results. Izzy is an advocate for people with disabilities and he served as the Vice-President of the Board of Directors for The Arc of Delaware. He worked closely with the Board and Executive Director to steer the nonprofit group through a series of challenging financial crises. He along with his parents and sister, fled Cuba in 1960 and settled in Wilmington. Izzy speaks fluent Spanish. He has been married to his wife Jenny, an English teacher, for thirty-four years and they have two children, Molly and Chris.
