How the Transparent Delaware site can help your business

11/28/2018

Caesar Rodneys Transparent Delaware website has been updated to include the state of Delawares FY 2014 vendor payments of $4.7 billion encompassing almost 474,000 individual transactions. The state is a major player in Delawares economy with vendor payments that amount to nearly 10% of private industry output. Transparent Delaware now contains over 8 million records. The state vendor data covers 11 years of transactions. The sophisticated website software allows the annual vendor payments to be sorted by the spending category (e.g., equipment rental), the department from which the payment originates (e.g., Transportation) and the specific vendor to whom the payment was made. So, for example, in FY 2014 the state government spent a total of $19.4 million on equipment rentals. The number of equipment rental transactions exceeded 11,000 with an average payment of $1,762 and the largest single payment being over $943,000. The state Department of Technology and Information ran up the largest 2014 equipment rental bill totaling $13.7 million. The most used vendor was Oracle America Inc in nearby Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania with billings equal to $3.2 million. Second among the vendors was Insight Public Sector (nearest office in NYC) with Mainline Information Systems coming in third (Wisconsin). Transparent Delaware is thus a great resource for firms who would like to obtain or increase their share of the states spending on vendors. Intermediate suppliers of goods and services to other businesses can also identify large, stable vendors to state government who might be candidates as customers. Transparent Delaware is sponsored by the Caesar Rodney Institute, a non-partisan and non-profit research and educational institution. The funds required annually to maintain and update the site are provided completely by donations. The state of Delaware provides both the vendor and payroll data that is found on the website. Transparent Delaware can be accessed by going to http://www.transparentdelaware.org/ and using a one-time registration process that secures permanent access to the system. Caesar Rodney provides Transparent Delaware to help more Delaware businesses recognize opportunities to become vendors with our state government. To facilitate this, upon request Caesar Rodney staff will demonstrate the optimal mechanics for using the website and answer questions.
