Delaware Legislators Concerned over 'Electric Car Mandate' Hosts Several Town Hall Meetings in their Local District

NEWARK, DE (March 22, 2023) - Delaware public officials are hosting town hall meetings up and down the state to inform the public about the "new electric car mandate" that will go into effect in 2025. The meetings are from 6:30 PM-8:30 PM, with the next meeting this Thursday, March 23rd, at Brandywine Hundred Firehall in North Wilmington. 

 

This mandate will impact residents and business owners; therefore, Delaware elected officials encourage them to attend.

 

The following questions will be addressed to guest *expert panelists:

 

-Is transitioning to electric cars good for the planet? 

-Can we make enough batteries and electricity for everyone?

-Are you ready to give up your gasoline-powered car and trucks?

-Who is impacted the most by the new regulations?

-Why is the General Assembly not being given an opportunity to vote on this important issue?

 

*Expert panelists in attendance include former climatologists (Dr. David R. Legates), DNERC regulations (Secretary Shawn Garvin), and Caesar Rodney Institute's Energy & Environment policy expert Dave Stevenson. 

 

John Toedtman, CRI's Executive Director, said:

 

"The Governor bypassed the people's elected officials and did not allow them to vote on this important regulation on behalf of their constituents. When you have Delawareans that will be impacted, it's not right for the Governor to not have public input."
