Major offshore wind infrastructure could cross Delaware’s beaches, dunes, wetlands, waterways, and communities. Delawareans deserve to know what is being approved, have a meaningful opportunity to participate, and know they will not be left paying for removal and restoration decades from now.

Delaware’s Coast Deserves Protection
The US Wind Maryland Offshore Wind Project would bring major transmission infrastructure through Delaware, including export cables making landfall at 3R’s Beach in Delaware Seashore State Park and continuing toward a proposed substation near the Indian River Power Plant.
Regardless of where Delawareans stand on offshore wind, decisions that could affect our coastline for decades should be transparent, include meaningful public participation, respect local communities, and protect taxpayers from future liabilities.
What We’re Asking

Transparent public review. Require meaningful, permit-by-permit public review of major offshore wind infrastructure, including an opportunity to examine and respond to material information submitted after a public-comment period.

Protect local land-use authority. Ensure local governments and the people they represent retain a meaningful voice in major land-use decisions affecting their communities.

Protect Delaware taxpayers. Require enforceable financial assurances before construction sufficient to cover decommissioning, removal, restoration, and other long-term liabilities.
